Pot up herbs

-

Keep herbs growing for longer by potting them now for the greenhouse where they will produce more shoots for weeks to come. This works well with parsley, mint, chives, oregano and lemon balm. Basil needs more heat, so dry the last shoots.

1 Choose a plant with plenty of new shoots in the centre and lift it, severing the main taproot but keeping a strong rootball.

2 Find a container big enough for the rootball and pot up the plant in a mix of soil-based and multi-purpose compost.
