Give wildlife hedges a trim

Now the birds have finished nesting and the fruit is mostly formed, wildlife hedges can be cut. This thickens up growth in spring and gives birds even better cover for nests. Cut back all of the strongest growing shoots. One or two species such as sloe, elder and hawthorn could develop into small trees to break up the hedge line if you leave them untrimmed.
