STARS AND SPIKES

-

An unusual but striking mix of stately spikes and starburst flowerheads that will light up the back of a border. WHY IT WORKS The soaring foxtails rise above short-lived, strappy leaves that are masked brilliantly by the mounding, ferny foliage of the thapsia. SECRETS TO SUCCESS Give these plants a sunny, well-drained spot. Plant the foxtails with the crown just below the surface and wear gloves to plant the thapsia as the roots are poisonous and can irritate the skin. Deadhead to stop these huge plants self-seeding. AT ITS PEAK June
