Harvest redcurrants
Pick redcurrants now that the sprigs are ripening. For speed, cut off the whole sprig and strip them later. If you’d rather take your time, the ripest currants can be picked individually and the bushes revisited over a week or two. For making preserves like redcurrant jelly, the sprigs can be stripped roughly, as the pulp is eventually discarded. Redcurrants freeze well, are great in smoothies and, with careful picking, look great on desserts such as pavlova.
