Take herb cuttings now

Take cuttings of shrubby herbs like lavender, rosemary and sage now the first flush of flowers are over. Cut out the strongest non-flowering shoots from the side of the plant that gets the most sun. Trim below a leaf joint then remove the lower leaves. Firm them into pots of gritty compost, water but then keep dry until you see signs of rooting. Pot them on this autumn to have young plants ready for planting next summer.
