Deadhead and tidy pond plants

-

Snip off the flowers of your pond plants as they go over. Like border plants, this will keep them in flower for longer and stimulate more growth. Collect the debris as you work so that it doesn’t drop into the pond, where it could rot and deoxygenate the water.

Trim back yellowing leaves and pull out any other growth that has faded. Do this bit of maintenance regularly to improve the pond and keep the water healthy.
