Gardeners are connecting online more than ever. Find out how to get involved, get advice and ideas and share your garden successes
Are you missing socialising with friends and family as freely as you used to? Covid-19 has fuelled a huge growth in online communities, with gardeners finding new ways to support each other, and share skills, advice and their gardens through social media. You’ll find tours, workshops, special interest groups and like-minded gardeners keen to have a natter over the virtual garden fence. Whether you’re joining your first group or your 100th, there has never been a better time to take part in the online gardening community. Use our guide to help you get the most from your experience. communicate directly with hundreds of thousands of people, almost in real time. I enjoy Instagram the most, and post pictures of my garden three or four times a day. I can’t respond to messages (I worked out that if I answered every question I receive, it would take 13 hours a day!). I glance at the social media responses to the TV programme, but they’re such a small sample of the people who watch, I don’t use it as a yardstick. Social media cannot be ignored, but it is not real life!
