GARDENS APPEAL Hestercombe Gardens Trust is launching an appeal to raise £1.5 million to restore and develop the historic gardens at Hestercombe Estate in Somerset. The Hestercombe Gardens Appeal, which lau unches on 21 April, aims to recreate many of the garden’s original features, including an n exceptionally rare Elizabethan Water Ga arden and an avenue of lime trees. The lim me avenue, which has been traced from old m aps, plans and photographs, once ran alo ong the west side of the Formal Garden, wh hich was designed by Gertrude Jekyll and ar rchitect Sir Edwin Lutyens.
