Sinuous paths wind their way through the garden, giving the impression of walking among the plants. A Carpinus betulus ‘Fastigiata’ hedge shields the house from sun in summer but lets in light in winter. The black shed is the perfect foil for purple flowers and the bright, yellow-green foliage of Amsonia tabernaemontana ‘Stella Azul’ (a selection of Jan’s).
