Palace of the senses
A new public garden will open next year at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh. Inspired by the Palace’s 17th-century physic garden, the new garden has been designed by landscape architects J&L Gibbons, and will be laid out geometrically in raised beds and planted year-round with native and exotic medicinal plants that would have been grown in the 17th century. The original physic garden was the first of its kind in Scotland, and only the second botanic garden to be established in Britain. royalcollection.org.uk
