A Family Fun Day: will be held at the Zone in Dunraven Place on Saturday, June 25 between 10am and 2pm. Garden Games, Local Craft Stalls, Face Painting Bake Sale and lots more. Entry is free and is open to all, come along and enjoy a great day out.

Strawberry Fayre: On Saturday, June 25 we are invited to a Strawberry Fayre being held at Bridgend United Church Tondu Road. The Fayre will start at 10am and entrance is £3 which will include a cup of tea or coffee, scone, cream and strawberry’s and there are various stalls to browse around. All welcome.

New British Winds: Will be performing at Carnegie House (former Bridgend Library) Wyndham Street on Thursday, June 23 at 12 noon, entrance is priced at £4. There will be a performanc­e of literature with Rachel Trezise andamanda Rackstraw at 7.30pm entrance is £4.

Young Poet: Eleri Williams year 7 Porthcawl Comprehens­ive is the first winner of the Bridgend Young Poet of the Year competitio­n which was held at Carnegie House (former Bridgend Library) on June 2. Porthcawl based poet Robert Minhinnick hosted a Live Final where short-listed poets had the opportunit­y to read their work aloud to the audience of family and friends. Those shortliste­d were Anna Henderson, Year 9, ‘The Seagulls’, Eleri Williams, Year 7, ‘The Unique City’, Emily James, Year 10, ‘The Next Platform’, Lucy Beale, Year 9, ‘Good Night’, Riley Thomas, Year 7, ‘Island’. Special commendati­on also goes to Caitlin Whiteley of Porthcawl Comprehens­ive School who submitted the poem ‘Auschwitz’ which Robert read out to the audience on the night. Receiving a cash prize of £50, sponsored by Coity Building Contractor­s, Eleri, along with all others on the short-list, received a book or pamphlet of poetry recommende­d by Robert and Kristian, generously donated by Seren Books. Robert Minhinnick and award winning poet Rhian Edwards will also deliver a series of workshops for budding Bridgend poets, which will take place in Carnegie House. The first will take place on Saturday, July 2, 10.30am to 12.30pm all aged 11 to 18 are welcome.

Healing Service: The next Healing Service held at Nolton Church will be held on Tuesday, June 28 at 7.30pm. The service will include the Eucharist. All are welcome.

Walk: A History Town Walk led by John Dunkley-Williams will take place from Ty-Ardd Local and Family History Centre on Saturday, June 25 starting at 12.45pm. The walk will take around an hour finishing at St. John’s House (Hospice) Newcastle Hill.

Hospital Service: The next Hospital Christian Fellowship Service will take place on Friday, June 26 at 3pm in the Hospital Chapel at the Princess of Wales Hospital Coity Road. The service will be led by Kitty Delahay. All are very welcome.
