Blaengarw Cricket Club: On Saturday, June 25, the cricket Club will be welcoming Coedely Cricket Club to Darren Park, Blaengarw for a division six, South East Wales clash. The start time is 1pm and the even popular ‘can bar’ will be open throughout the afternoon. Everyone welcome.

Grassroots Cwm Garw: This relatively new group is going from strength to strength and has now acquired funds to enable the painting of the street railings in New Street Pantygog to commence. This will be a community led job, undertaken during the next few weeks largely dependent on the weather. The group would like to say a huge thank you to Johnstone’s Paints of Brackla, Bridgend who made a huge contributi­on to the costs.

Pontycymer R.F.C. Presentati­on Night: On Saturday, June 11, the rugby club held their annual end of season presentati­on evening. The night was a great success with the following collecting awards on the evening:

1st XV Captain Award – Andrew Harris

1st XV Player of the Year – [tied between] Johnny Evans and Zack James

1st XV Players Player of the year – Rhys Dent

1st XV Most Improved Player of the year – Garin Hawkins

Spirit of the Club Award – Ethan Stead

The Gwyn ‘Jaffa’ Griffiths Clubman of the year Award – Dai Lacey

The club would like to thank Marie and Alun Griffiths for sponsoring the trophies on the night in memory of Gwyn ‘Jaffa’ Griffiths who was a stalwart of the club for many years. The club would also like to thank everyone who helped in the day to day running of the club, including players, coaching staff, programme sellers, supports and club photograph­er, Tim Dobbs.
