KEV KICKS OFF

- With Kevin Ellis

I STILL can’t believe how fantastic the Welsh football team played and thoroughly deserved the 3-1 win over Belgium.

They’ve made the nation smile again and to see all the pubs and clubs full on Friday night supporting the boys was brilliant. Six thousand fans were in the fanzone in Bute Park in Cardiff where the atmosphere was electric. I was in the house with my son screaming every time we scored.

The team has been exceptional and now to be in a semi-final against Portugal – Bale v Ronaldo – is unbelievable. Chris Coleman has galvanised this team and the passion and pride they’ve got is awesome and now at this time, football is the number one sport in the nation. Good luck, Wales!

It was sad to hear the devastating news that Lino Laforges (Ronnie the Raven) passed away last week age 56. He was a massive Bridgend RFC supporter and loved his rugby and always had time for anybody. He gave me lots of advice on scrum-half play and his brother Rob was an excellent player for the Athletic. My condolences go to Rob and Lino’s wife Claire and the rest of the family, RIP Lino!

It was fantastic to join Carwyn Jones, Max Boyce, Jamie Baulch and John Devs in leading Mair’s 10th anniversary Walk for cancer. There was another great turnout on a nice sunny Sunday. The walk has raised around £270,000 so far so, hopefully, they can get it up too £300k, I’m not sure if that was the last walk. Hopefully, it’s not. It’s been a great event and people love doing the walk and there’s a great atmosphere every year. I really think Mair deserves an MBE for her charity work. Well done, Mair, X.

Good luck to Wales who play Portugal with Ronaldo and Bale going head to head. Let’s keep dreaming and win. Question: Do you think we will beat Portugal even though we are without Ramsey and Davies?

Yes, I do. We have great team spirit. The boys are under no pressure as we are underdogs. Confidence is high in the camp and, lastly, Portugal are not playing well at all. C’mon Wales!
