Arrests made in police raid
POLICE arrested 14 people and seized drugs from a number of properties during a day-long operation across Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.
Addresses in Porthcawl and in the Wildmill area of Bridgend were searched.
POLICE arrested 14 people and seized drugs from a number of properties during a day-long operation across Bridgend and the Vale of Glamorgan.
South Wales Police said officers forced their way into four properties under the Misuse of Drugs Act and arrested suspects during Operation Violet Oman last Wednesday, July 13.
Addresses in Porthcawl and in the Wildmill area of Bridgend were searched by speciallytrained search teams, with 20 cannabis plants seized in total from addresses in Church Place and St David’s Way, Porthcawl.
A police spokesman said one person linked to the Church Place address was given a caution and two people linked to St David’s Way were charged with possessing controlled drugs and being concerned in the supply of class B drugs.
He said another woman was arrested on suspicion of possessing heroin by officers patrolling Bridgend town centre.
Police also arrested six outstanding suspects for offences which are alleged to have occurred in the Vale of Glamorgan, Bridgend, and Maesteg, and who were wanted by officers in connection with alleged offences including assault, harassment, theft and public order.
The first warrant was executed at approximately 7am on Wednesday and activity continued through the day.
Nearly 40 police officers and PCSOs were involved in the operation including neighbourhood policing officers, mounted officers, specialist search teams, police dogs and dog handlers, traffic officers and crime prevention officers.
Inspector Melanie Knight said: “The public are our eyes and ears and are essential partners in the fight against all kinds of crime.
“Operations such as this one enhance our abilities to act upon the different concerns of lo- cal communities.”
Officers involved in the operation also carried out checks on licensed premises and Bridgend retail- ers linked to the sale of psychoactive substances and carried out high visibility patrols in priority areas.
