Our future is safe in these caring hands

- With Madeleine Moon MP

IT’S a grim time to be in politics. Uncertainty everywhere. Piles of emails from people who are angry and frightened.

Anger at Brexit, anger I don’t back Corbyn, frightened at events in Nice and Turkey.

From anger and gloom to inspiration and hope involved a short journey to Llangewydd Primary to meet the Eco Club.

The children showed me their wonderful DVD Climate Kids “Eyes of the Earth” and took me to their outdoor classroom.

Everything about the classroom is recycled from the building, erected with the help of the children and parents to the trees, owls and insects also made from used fabric, plastic and metal.

A safe home also for spiders and butterflies. Before I left they gave me a sack full of letters urging help for children living in crisis situations such as refugee camps to have access to education.

I will pass those on to Priti Patel the new Minister for International Development.

Whatever the crisis, we can be proud of our children and the inspiration and success they demonstrate.

Porthcawl Primary pupils winning a national award for building a racing car demonstrating their creativity, science, technology, engineering and maths skills.

The future is safe in such caring and creative hands.

Our job as adults is to master fear and anger and set the example for them to follow.

Making sure the world stays safe and secure for them and to listen to their calls to care for our world, care for those in crisis and pave the way for innovation and skills which will lead us into the future.

Best antidote for depression? A visit to a class of primary school children.
