BRYN Road visitors Pentyrch won the toss and chose to bat.

Six batsmen reached double figures with Scott Matthews (38), Brett Hole (34), Dominic Grossett (29no) and Stuart Roberts (21) the biggest contributo­rs as they closed on 1797 from their 50 overs.

The Tondu bowling was: Brian Thomas 10-1-29-0, Ryan Owen 10-2-22-1, Wayne Butler 3-0-16-1, Jon Bussey 10-3-17-3, Richard Ready 10-2-48-0 and David Matthews 7-0-43-1.

Tondu never recovered from a dreadful start which saw them 21-4. Jamie Williamson produced the innings of the day with a superb 66 not out. But he had little support apart from Ryan Owen (15) and Dai Rees (17) and they were dismissed for 151 in 46.5 overs.

Pentyrch’s bowling was: Todd Wilcox 10-3-32-4, Peter Grosset 10-4-13-1,

Dominic Grossett 2-1-2-0, David Tallis 6-0-19-1, Rhys Grant 7-1-23-1, Steve Matthews 5-0-23-0, Jamie Mills 4.5-0-17-2 and Scott Matthews 2-0-10-0.

SECOND XI EAST PENTYRCH SECONDS.105-5 TONDU SECONDS ..... 103

TONDU were inserted and never really settled. Their top four batsmen all reached double figures but nonr of them got more than 12. Layton Williams hit three fours in a defiant 23 and Brent Parry got 13 but they were bowled out for 103 in 30.4 overs. The Pentyrch bowling was: Mark Chatterton 8-1-28-2, Hayden Dawson 7-0-19-1, Mike Saltmarsh 5-2-12-2, Steve Hood 7-2-25-2 and Dan Bennett 3.4-0-17-2.

Steve Hood (23) held things together as wickets started to fall but Dominic Gambles got Pentyrch home on 105-5 off 22.3 overs with a fine 48 not out (six sixes and a four).The Tondu bowling was: Layton Williams 4-0-16-1, Luke Gregory 4-0-25-0, Josh Banks 7-2-20-1, Tom Jenkins 7-0-30-3 and Brian Thomas 0.3-0-14-0.
