Crofts hits four past Robins

FRIENDLY TONDU ROBINS ............. 1 PORTHCAWL TOWN ATHLETIC ....................... 6

JORGE Crofts hogged the limelight as Porthcawl Town Athletic flew to victory over Tondu Robins, writes Tony Poole.

The former youth player at Merthyr Town and Penybont scored four times as the Seasiders got in useful pre-season preparation.

On this form, the teenage attacker is set to terrorise some South Wales Alliance Division One defences next winter.

Porthcawl managers Ray Walker, Kevin Downes, Mike Crofts and Damian McCann rotated a 20-man squad on the day.

The biggest surprise was provided by Thomas Warren, who scored a peach of a goal.

The former Bridgend Town and Bryntirion Athletic star left a defender in his slipstream before slotting the ball home.

And Warren then turned provider after a Crofts shot clipped a post, and he set up Naughton to double the lead.

Just before the break, Crofts opened his goal account and it was 3-0 at the turnaround.

Two more goals from Crofts sent them clear while the chirpy Robins caught the visitors on the hop and reduced arrears to 5-1.

But the final word went to Porthcawl and goal sniffer Crofts, who completed the scoring during final knockings.

Off the field, Porthcawl will again receive sponsorship from Audi Sinclair.

Training continues at Lock’s Lane on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.15pm. New players are welcome at these sessions.
