Cefn pile on the pressure in Pencoed AFC friendly

-

FRIENDLY

CEFN Cribwr travelled to local Alliance Premier Division side Pencoed AFC.

As with all pre-season friendlies, both teams set out to play flowing attractive football and it wasn’t long before Cribwr played through the phases and created a goal scoring opportunity through midfielder Connor O’Connell whose run in behind was ably found by playmaker Jason Cave.

O’Connell couldn’t convert but it was a sign of things to come when moments later, he found him- self one-on-one and didn’t make a mistake.

After the goal, Cefn seemed to sit back and it gave Coed a chance to push on with some neat intricate passing. They found themselves bringing out the best in keeper Mike Dimond who pushed the ball wide for a corner. Coed had a patch where they were on top and scored on the stroke of half time.

Cefn came out having made a couple of changes, seeing new signing Curtis Grant getting some minutes under his belt and looking sharp after a lengthy layoff, Cefn started brightly looking to create early pressure. Some lovely passing among the midfield saw Grant through on goal, bearing down but he unselfishly squared the ball to Dan Jenkins who delicately slotted it home. Pencoed pushed on and forced a couple of good saves from the Cefn keeper and saw an effort cleared off the line by centre half Jonathan Tiffin.

Another good win for Cefn sees them in good stead going into the last pre-season friendly. The club would like to thank all clubs who have hosted them for pre-season games and wish them all the very best for the season ahead.
