No plan to move on with Brexit

- With Councillor Cheryl Green

IT is now almost seven weeks since the referendum on membership of the European Union was held but what has changed?

Some people could be forgiven for thinking that it never happened. It is true that the Pound has plummeted and that of course will affect people holidaying abroad, whether in Europe or elsewhere.

There is, understandably, some anxiety over future funding for projects in the borough as no assurances have been received that all funding up until 2020 will be honoured.

Many people will be concerned for job stability and this will have a knock on effect on the local economy as well as Wales in general.

I believe that people will need to know and understand the terms that accompany Brexit because this has never been identified by either the Leave or Remain camp.

As I have stated previously, the actual impact of either remain or leave has never been accurately described and neither has anyone given an impartial account of what the terms upon which we may leave the EU may contain. There are many people from the union working in the United Kingdom who feel very uneasy with the uncertainty of it all and many of these are in key jobs with vital skills.

It is important that people are properly informed and a meaningful timetable is set.

Despite the Prime Minister and other leading figures claiming that Brexit means Brexit, what does this actually mean?

What evidence is there that anything has been triggered in terms of clause 50?

It is incredible that despite the referendum going ahead, there is no coherent plan or methodology in place to move on with Brexit. On the other hand, perhaps that IS the plan.
