Hundreds queue up for free treats at shop opening
CHOCOLATE lovers queued for up to four hours to receive free goodies as Lindt opened its first Welsh store.
The first 100 of the estimated 200 people who had lined up outside the shop in the McArthurGlen Designer Outlet in Bridgend, were rewarded with a free box of Lindor Milk Truffles when they got through the door last Thursday.
Lindt said it had been one of their most successful shop openings to date, which has also created 11 new jobs.
Figures released by Lindt show that 1,834 customers entered the store on the launch day.
On Saturday, the store also hosted a chocolate fun day.
Footfall levels on this day reached up to 1,202 customers visiting the store.
Lindt said the store is designed to become the ultimate destination to find the perfect chocolate, gift or treat and offers exclusive ranges such as Lindor pick-and-mix flavours.
The store also has one of the largest instore offerings of Lindt products in the UK.
A Lindt spokesman explained why they had chosen McArthurGlen as the location to open their first ever Welsh store.
“We have a longstanding relationship with McArthurGlen Designer Outlet Bridgend,” the spokesman said.
“The centre has great synergy with our brand and customer profile.
“The centre is unique with strong brands and strong footfall.
“We are delighted with the performance so far.
“The number of customers that were queuing and shopping in store on launch day exceed that of other store openings to date.”
