CEFN CRIBWR ..............2 TREFELIN BC ...............4

CEFN Cribwr entertained Nathaniel Cars Welsh league Division 3 outfit Trefelin at Cae Gof in the Welsh Cup.

Cefn had to reshuffle the pack and change shape which worked very well and saw them have the better of the possession in the early exchanges.

For a team four leagues higher, Trefelin played some lovely football and made the midfield three of Cefn work hard.

It wasn’t long before a cross cum shot from Trefelin caught in the wind and swung into the top corner.

Things didn’t get any better when a shot from outside the box flew into the top corner to make it 2-0 after 15 minutes.

Trefelin made the most of the running before another goal on the stroke of half time made it 3-0.

Cefn were determined to have a say in the matter and some neat passing from Curtis Grant and Geraint Brown set striker Tom Harris through only for the visiting keeper to deny him.

Trefelin were awarded a controversial penalty which striker Damon Thomas slotted home.

Cefn had fought hard and felt they were still in the game and playmaker Dan Jenkins latched on to a through ball from midfield and went round the keeper and calmly finished.

Trefelin seemed to be momentarily pinned back and Jenkins seized the moment with a show of brilliance and tucked the ball away at the near post, Cefn really showed fight and before the end, had a goal disallowed and struck the woodwork.

Trefelin showed class and ran out winners in an entertaining game.

Tonight (Wednesday) Cefn travel to Garw for the first derby of the season followed by a Sunday game where they host the famous Groundhoppers in a 2.30pm kick off against Penrhiwfer.
