Mazda MX-5 on top of the world

THE fourth generation Mazda MX-5 has been named World Car of the Year and is available from Victoria Park Mazda on Hadfield Road, Cardiff.

The all-new Mazda MX-5 also won World Car Design of the Year, making it the first car to win both titles in the history of the awards.

Mazda was awarded the prestigiou­s title at the New York Internatio­nal Auto Show on March 24, bringing this cars’ awards tally to more than 30. It was also awarded 2015-2016 Car of the Year Japan and 2016 UK Car of the Year. The other finalists for World Car Design of the Year included the all-new Mazda CX-3.

The fourth-generation Mazda MX-5 was launched in 2015 and is the sixth model in Mazda’s newgenerat­ion line-up of vehicles featuring the full range of SKYACTIV technology and KODO: Soul of Motion design. Victoria Park Mazda customers can opt for the limitededi­tion all-new Mazda MX-5 Icon, which is based on the 131ps SE-L Nav. The Icon is the first Mk 4 special edition with the spirited 1.5 litre SKYACTIV-G engine.

The new model boasts fuel economy up to 47.1mpg with CO2 emissions as low as 139g/km. Available from £20,995 on-the-road, the all-new Mazda MX-5 Icon is available with a choice of Meteor Grey Mica or Crystal White Pearlescen­t paint. The unique look is boosted further by 16-inch Gunmetal alloy wheels and heated black leather seats.
