Family History: The Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan Family History Society are holding their AGM on Monday, September 19, at the Len Evans Centre,Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig CF32 9RF.

The Speaker on the night will be Roger Penn, author of Memory’s of Sarah Jane Howell - a Welsh Heroine.The Brynmenyn School Teacher. Doors open 7pm.

Bridgend Castle Players: Bridgend Castle Players will be holding their 70th Anniversar­y celebratio­n on Saturday, September 24, at Bridgend Tennis Club. Doors open 7.30pm, and the evening will include a one act play, disco, buffet, and lots of BCP-related memorabili­a on display.

The event is open to past and present members and patrons of Bridgend Castle Players, and invited guests.

Malvern Show: Aberkenfig Allotment Associatio­n in conjunctio­n with Coytrahen Gardening Club is running a trip to the Malvern Autumn Show on Sunday, September 25.

This promises to be a fantastic day out and is much more than a horticultu­re show.

There’s lots to experience and something for the whole family!

From dog agility and aeroplane stunt shows to poultry competitio­ns and a fantastic food hall.

An eclectic mix of entertainm­ent for all ages.Normal entry price on the gate £19, this trip is £20 all in. This includes bus fare and entry.

Bus will leave the Phillip Squire Community Centre, Coytrahen at 9am sharp and the bus stop outside Simla, Aberkenfig at 9.10am, leaving the showground at 5 pm to be back in Aberkenfig by 7.15pm.

Balance of £10 to be paid on the bus.

Reiki Healing: Reiki healing is offered each Tuesday from 6pm7.30pm at the Ynysawdre Community Centre (at the junction of Bryn Road and Heol-yr-Ysgol).

There is no charge for the service but a small donation to help defray expenses is appreciate­d.

Nazareth Chapel: Nazareth Baptist Chapel Bryncethin offers a Service 4pm.

Smyrna Penyfai: The Sunday School would like to invite the children of the surroundin­g area aged 4 and over to join them on Sunday morning between 10.30am and 12noon for stories, singing and fun with arts and craft work.

The Sunday service is held at 6pm and is on Sunday, September 11 is led by Rev Rusty Canoy (Oklahoma).

All are very welcome to the service and to enjoy refreshmen­ts in the vestry afterwards. Coffee morning is held on Tuesday between 10am and 12noon with good company and the sale of home-made cakes, etc.

A raffle is also held in aid of local charities.

Bible study takes place on Thursday evening at 7.15pm and is led in turn by Mrs Marlyn James and Miss Dorithy Evans.
