Quiz Night: At the Wyndham Arms every Thursday at 9pm.

Lady’s Night: A lady’s night is going to be held at the Aberkenfig Con Club, Aberkenfig, Bridgend on Friday, October 14.

This night will be full of fun with Miss Tina Sparkle and a stripper.

All proceeds are for Nantymoel Amateur Boxing Club.

Amateur Boxing: Amateur Boxing will be held at Sarn Social Club, Sarn on Friday, September 23.

This will be presented by Nantymoel Amateur Boxing Club and tickets cost £7 from Dean Morgan on 07572 864 843 or on the door £8 each.

Coffee Morning: Christchur­ch Chapel Corbett Street, Ogmore Vale hold a Coffee Morning on Thursday, September 29, from 9.30am-10.45am. There will also be a cake stall, book stall, china, clothes stalls, not forgetting a raffle, etc. Free admission. Proceeds to charity. All welcome.

Nantymoel Knitters Class: Meet twice a week at Dinam Close every Tuesday and Friday from 10am-12noon.

We are always looking for new members and all our efforts are to make things for charity.Many thanks from all the knitting club members.

Anniversar­y Celebratio­ns: Bridgend Castle Players will be holding their 70th Anniversar­y celebratio­n on Saturday, September 24, at Bridgend Tennis Club.

Trigger The Horse: Trigger is at it again sponsoring Nantymoel RFC youth ruby team.

He would like to say a BIG thank you to all the public for helping him raise £200 in teaming up with Vicki Rossiter.

Also a big thank you to Karis Thomas and Tim from Bridgend Embroidery for assistance and supporting a valley legend.

Blaenogwr Anniversar­y: What a night at the Blaenogwr Hotel on Saturday, September 3, celebratin­g the first anniversar­y of the pub since Sadie and Kayleigh took over.

They would like to thank everyone who came to the night, to all the singers and staff, to Tim for the karaoke and disco also not for getting Photo Booths Bridgend for supplying a photo booth for all at the pub to have loads of fun which we did and took lots of photos.

Thanks again to everyone who comes and supports the pub. A Traditiona­l Sunday School Service in Smyrna Chapel Penyfai always starts at 10.30am, the evening September services will take place in Smyrna Chapel starting at 6pm, coffee morning in September in the Smyrna chapel vestry from10am to 12noon, also stalls of produce are on offer, bible studies take place on Thursday evenings at 7.15pm and led by Marlyn James and Dorothy Evans, newcomers to the village of Penyfai are always made very welcome

Community Council: Newcastle Higher Community Council met for the first time after the summer break on Tuesday, September 6 at 7pm at the Smyrna Chapel Vestry.

A report was given to the councillor­s about the Penyfai Fun Day.

The weather played a very big part on Saturday with rain most of the day but this did not stop the enthusiasm of the organisers and the Penyfai Fun day went ahead in the Pheasant Field.

It is now hoped the weather will be much better next year for the Penyfai Fun Day.

More daffodil bulbs will be planted by the Community Council on the Village Green at Prothero Avenue in readiness for next spring.

The need for public toilets to be open in Aberkenfig were discussed and will be on the next month September agenda.

Penyfai WI: Every third Monday in the month the Penyfai WI meet in the Penyfai Church In Wales School at 7.30pm.

The next meeting will take place on September 19 and the talk for the evening will be about the benefits of Aloe Vera.

Play and Community: Families of newcomers to the village with children from two years to four years, the Play and Community play group is held in the scout hall on Court Coleman Road.

The play group is open from 9.15am-3pm in the afternoon from Monday to Friday during term time.
