Photo Exhibition: Work has started on the next photograph­ic exhibition of Old Bridgend in Photos.

The first exhibition was held in July when more than 750 people visited the display at Carnegie House Wyndham Street.

Due to its popularity, it was decided to hold another and for one week only from Tuesday, October 25 to Saturday, October 29, 10am-4pm.

The exhibition will be held in the same venue as before Carnegie House (former Bridgend Library) Wyndham Street.

Bridgend Quakers: The Quakers invite you to a Garden Party in aid of Friends of Monze on Saturday, September 24 from 2pm-4pm at the Quaker Meeting House, 87 Park Street. Cream teas, Kiddies If wet, events will take place in the Meeting House. Deana Owen will share the latest news following her recent visit to Monze.

Merlyn Maddock MBE Memorial Concert : Bridgend Male Choir choir will help provide the music at the Memorial Concert to a great local man.

Tabernacl Chapel at Pontycymer is the venue for the Merlyn Maddock MBE Memorial Concert supporting Parkinson’s.

A great son of the valley, the concert is at 7pm on Friday, September 23.

The compere is Huw Edwards, who is making a welcome return to Pontycymer.

Harp and vocal trio, Eos and the school choir of Ffaldau Primary school will also be there.

Fashion Show: Bridgend and Porthcawl Marie Curie Fundraisin­g Group are presenting a fashion show in conjunctio­n with Samantha B of Ewenny. The event is on Wednesday, September 28 at the Heronston Hotel. Doors open 7pm for a 7.45pm start. Tickets cost £10 from 01656 660391 or e mail bandpmarie­curie@gmail.com.

Open Doors Event: St John’s House (the former Hospice), Newcastle Hill, will be celebratin­g the Open Doors event on Saturday and Sunday, September 24 and 25 from 11am-4pm. Displays, exhibition­s, music and much more.

Cleared Up: The church yard at St Illytds, Newcastle Church has been cleared and lots of tidy up has been done recently. This is due to the Bridgend Town outside workers, and a great job was done. Many thanks to Paul Davies, Matthew Thomas, Craig Chandler, and Adam Davies.

Friends and Neighbours: The Friends and Neighbours group meet in the Zone, 46-48 Dunraven Place every Monday morning between 11.45am12.45pm. People from all ethnic background­s and all ages are welcome into this warm, friendly group which creates a sense of community. There is no charge, come along and see for yourself.

Fellowship Service: The next Hospital Christian Fellowship Service held in the hospital chapel at the Princess of Wales Hospital will take place on Friday, September 23 at 3pm. The service will be led by Glenys Wilkes from Bridgend.

Messy Church: Nolton church’s Messy Church takes place on Sunday, September 25. Messy church, with song, story, activity and craft takes place in Nolton church at 2.30pm with tea in Oldcastle Hall (church hall) afterwards.
