RHIGOS .......................... 7

CEFN CRIBWR .............. 7

THIS match was always going to be a tough one for Cefn away to a club with a reputation for playing hard valleys rugby.

To be fair, both sides played some lively and entertaining rugby in this low scoring affair, with neither side really managing to come out on top.

It was all square with no score 30 minutes into the game until Cefn took the initiative with speedy wing forward Kieron Hooper flying off the back of a very good Cefn scrum to scorch over from the 22 for an excellent solo try. Full back Adam Lloyd duly converted.

This sparked Rhigos into a response just on half time for a well worked try to leave it honours even at the interval.

The second half followed a similar pattern to the first, Cefn losing their other dynamic flanker Adam Ricketts, to be replaced by veteran Steve Gillard who had a fine match when he entered the fray, taking the ball to the opposition at every opportunity.

Skipper and fly half Owen Davies was pick of the Cefn backs, and Cefn were very unfortunate on two occasions not to be awarded a try.

Lock Jeff Jones put in another excellent all round performance in the boiler house and in open play, while the whole pack competed well against strong opposition.

Cefn can be reasonably happy to come away with a couple of league points and a good display against a quality Rhigos side.
