Spooky Fun: A Halloween party will be held in the United Services Club Tondu Road on Saturday, October 29. Starting at 7pm until late. Fancy dress is optional, live entertainm­ent with Jeff Alvey vocal comedian, bingo and raffle. Entrance is £4 and tickets are available at the club or on the door of the event.

Bridge MPS: The Bridge MPS would like to thank the people of Bridgend who have been so generous in their support of The Zone-family centre.

We have received a lot of support at our fundraisin­g events, along with financial gifts.

Because of these kind gestures, we are pleased to announce that the Zone will remain open at present.

Further events have been arranged for October and November, including our Spooky Month event, a family treasure hunt and, a songs and supper evening.

We are holding a Spooky Story contest throughout October for eight to 14 year olds.

The Bridge MPS and the Zone continues to serve the community with friendship groups, job searches and parents and toddlers crafts.

We are also working in conjunctio­n with Tesco, offering Fare Share food.

The centre is open between 10am and 12noon on Wednesday for people to receive food items at no charge.

The Bridgend and the Zone have rooms available for hire and , offices for lease.

Also, on Monday, November 28 and Tuesday, November 29 only, the Royal Welsh Showground hosts a Winter Fair.

A bus trip to the Fair for Monday November 28 has been planned by Bridge Mentoring Scheme in Bridgend.

The bus will depart from Cheapside at 9.30am and return at 7pm after the Fireworks display at the Showground.

Bus seats are £12 and the entry to the show is £15 on the day.

Glamorgan Family History Society: The Bridgend branch of the Glamorgan Family History Society, will meet at the Len Evans Centre, Heol Persondy, Aberkenfig on Monday, October 17.

The speaker for the evening will be the highly respected author Mr Malcolm Cowper from Porthcawl who will entertain members with his book Forgotten Heroes of Glamorgan. Doors open at 7pm and the talk will begin at 7.30pm. New members are always welcome.

Bridgend Communitie­s first: Free Halloween Gruesome Grub and Craft will be held at Wildmill Community Centre on Wednesday, October 26 between 1pm and 3pm. Go along and learn how to make gruesome grub and spooky Halloween crafts during autumn half term.

Also Bridgend Communitie­s First will be holding a free Halloween broomstick and wand making at Penybont Football Club (former Bryntirion football club, Llangewydd Road) between 3pm abd 5pm on Thursday, October 27.

Join in for a spooky fun session making broomstick­s and wands so that you can go trickor-treating in style.

Guide Dogs Cymru Bridgend: The local branch of volunteer fundraiser­s are holding a Table Top Sale to raise funds on Saturday, October 29 at Laleston Garden Club, Blandy Hall, Laleston.

Tables can be reserved at £8. Please contact Norah on 01656 786108 or 07776 437565. Free entry to the public. Refreshmen­ts are available – all welcome.

Coity Flower Club: The club meets on the first Tuesday of each month in Coity Church Hall, Coity, and new members are always very welcome.

Through the kindness of a Nolton Church parishione­r there are now two wheelchair­s available, one largewheel­ed, the other with small wheels.

They are kept in the church office, so Angela is the person to speak to if you wish to use one.
