Volunteers at Primary School: Many thanks to those willing volunteers who helped the PTA to clear the barked area at the bottom of the Junior Yard at Cefn Cribwr Primary School on Friday September 2. This was done to enable a new play facility to be installed later in the school year.

Thanks in particular to Alud Jones, Leigh Grant, Claire Edwards, Ryland Downs and Richard Smith.

Our village school is always in need of volunteers and if anyone is interested in assisting in future projects please get in touch by calling Jill Goudge (Chair of Governors) 01656 740026.

Fundraisin­g Event for Y Bont: An evening of entertainm­ent will be held at the Green Hall, Cefn Cribwr on Friday, November 4 in aid of Y Bont.

Entertainm­ent includes the Pencoed Silver Band, The Legendary Marcus Bridgeman and Friends, Dennis Lang Welsh Comedian and the Garage Gospel Choir.

Doors open 6.45pm and the performanc­e starts 7.30pm.

This performanc­e is staged by Cefnevents and sponsored by Glamorgan 1:1.

School News: Many thanks to everyone who came to our coffee morning at the school on Friday September 30. It was great to see so many attending and, as always, we hold a huge debt of gratitude to our PTA. A magnificen­t £471 was raised with proceeds going to McMillan Cancer Support and Ben’s Wheelchair fund. Diolch o’r galon ichi gyd.

Congratula­tions: Belated congratula­tions to Lucy Davies, previously Head Girl at Cynffig Comprehens­ive School, on obtaining her A-levels A*AAA. Lucy is off to Bath University to study pharmacy. Good luck in your chosen career.
