PONTYCYMER’S four game winning streak continued in this clash, Bryncoch, nicknamed The Eagles, left Lawrence Park with their wings well and truly clipped.

It was the visitors who started the score-board rolling with a penalty, Home centre Steve John then levelled the scores with a monster penalty, Bryncoch kicked another penalty to edge them infront again, Then, Pontycymer skipper and flanker Andrew Harris smashed his way over to get his side’s first try, John converted,and also slotted a penalty. The Green and Ambers then hit a 10 minute purple patch which resulted in speedy winger Tom Harris touching down just before half time.

The second half was all one way traffic with the Garw Valley outfit holding all the aces. After some quick thinking from scrum half Geraint Gillet, the ball found replacemen­t No 8 Rhys Hosey who bludgeoned his way over for a try, John added the conversion. Ponty’s fourth try came via burly winger Dave Upton, who ran hard and straight at the defence and came away with the try adnd John converted again, With five minutes left, dynamic hooker Scott Forrester scored a fantastic solo try, John converted taking his match tally to 14 points. This Saturday, Pontycymer play in round three of this season’s National Bowl competitio­n when they travel to Old Penarthian­s. Also on October 29, Pontycymer will be holding a family Halloween disco at their clubhouse between 6.308.30pm, Entry is £1 per person, All welcome.
