THE annual Bridge FM Toy Appeal for Christmas has kicked off with the radio station hoping to smash last year’s record donation of almost 1,500 presents.

Once again the radio station is working with the Co-op, where collection points have been set up, and HMP Parc, which wraps the presents, to help bring smiles to the faces of children facing difficult circumstances this festive season.

In the days before Christmas last year the gifts donated by the public were distributed by charities and organisations including Mental Health Matters, Princess of Wales Hospital children’s ward and special baby unit, Salvation Army, Bridgend County Borough Council, Family Support, Y Bont, Women’s Aid, Homestart, the Wallich, Flying Start Settings, Ty Hafan and Ty Cornel.

Bridge FM drive time presenter Lee Jukes said: “Last year we had a record year with almost 1,500 toys donated.

“The people of Bridgend county borough are so generous and we would love it if they could help us out again this year and take a new toy to one of the local participating Co-op food stores.

“We’ll do the rest and make sure the toy gets to a local disadvantaged child in time for Christmas.”

New toys can be donated at Co-op food stores in Brackla, Pencoed, Pontycymer, Porthcawl – New Road, Porthcawl town centre, Cowbridge, Llantwit Major and Llanharan. There will be updates on Bridge FM over the next few weeks and find out more online at www.bridgefm.wales
