Working to help those hit by floods

- With Ogmore MP Chris Elmore

I’LL be honest, I’ve had to change what I was writing about this week following the floods on the weekend.

The weather has caused huge problems across the constituency and I spent most of Sunday knocking doors, chatting with residents and offering help to those families and businesses affected in Maesteg.

Many families devastated by the flash flooding have been left with thousands of pounds’ worth of damage to their homes and lost possessions, including many irreplaceable items. It was heartbreaking listening to people talk about the impact of what has happened.

Over the coming days I’ll be working with Bridgend council and Valleys to Coast Housing to offer as much help as I possibly can to residents.

Thankfully the flood warnings for the Llynfi have been lifted, but others have not.

Of course families in Pencoed, Ogmore Vale and Pontycymmer have been affected too and I will do all I can to help anyone affected.

If you need help or support please call my office on 01656 860 034 or email chris.elmore. mp@parliament.uk

I also want to make people aware of the go fund me website for those affected. With Christmas just around the corner these floods are made even more difficult. Many of the people I’ve spoken to have children and they’re left with the awful choice of replacing furniture or making sure their children have a good Christmas.

This page is designed to help ease that decision.

Even if it’s just a couple of pounds, anything would help. www.gofundme.com/ garth-flood
