The Club prides itself on superb raffle prizes and once again there were a number of impressive food and drink hampers on offer.

Before the draw took place for the raffle there was a presentation to Glan Hathaway who had stood down as Chairman and committee member at the recent AGM on October 14.

Glan has battled with ill-health for some time and felt that it was time for him to resign.

He was one of a group of villagers who got together in 1971 and decided to form a Gardening Club and he has been a central figure ever since.

Glan and Aubrey Howard are the only two founder members who have survived. Aubrey was the first Chairman and Glan has served as Chairman from 1994 until his resignation.

Many thanks were given to Glan and in recognition of his exceptional service over many years, he was presented with a framed certificate granting him life membership of Laleston Gardening Club and he also received an inscribed brandy glass as a gift from the committee.

His leadership and wise counsel will be sadly missed but he will be kept fully informed of all that goes on at Cliff Cottage and will be warmly welcomed whenever he is well enough to visit.

On Monday, November 14, the Club held its Annual Quiz and Social evening in Cliff Cottage.

The Club’s usual Quiz Master Pauline Sloan was unwell and so the Treasurer Paul Jones filled in at short notice.
