THE team at the top of the league has changed again. Nantymoel Rugby gained an 8-1 victory over the visiting Con and, with other results going their way, they took over at the top.

For the Rugby, Johnny Clayton and Andrew Williams, Wade Williams with Steve Humphries John Collins and Simon Hill all won their pairs. Then, Clayton, who hit a 17 darter, “Butch” Williams, Roy Nutt, Hopkins and Collins, who banged in a 180, all won their singles before old reliable Dai Davies rescued a point for the Con and sent Hill to the 8-1 club.

Last year’s champions, the Vetz, beat the visiting Colliers 7-2 thanks to 180s from Mike Huntley and Alwyn Rees.

The Pant got all nine points as they ran amok over the Blaengarw Hotel.

In the pairs, Dai Frowen and Stu Angove, Ian and Josh Williams also Clive Carpenter with skipper John Thomas won their games.

Then, Carpy, Frowen, who hit a maximum, the two Williams boys, Angove and Barry Davies took all six singles for a clean sweep.

It was the same score- line at the Inn Nantymoel who whitewashe­d Ogmore Rugby although there are no further details of the game.

While at Blaengarw Rugby, the Social came out on top winning 5-4.

There were wins in the pairs for the rugby’s Will Struthers and Phil Rice, also Peter Jones with Colin Price, Chris Packman and Nick Winn pulled one back for the Social.

In the singles, the Social got off to a great start, winning the first four games through Winn, Packman, John Pritchard and John Picton. However, the Rugby hit back to take the last two games through Price and Peter Jones.
