CAMBRIAN & CLYDACH ................... 1 PENYBONT .................... 3

PENYBONT stretched an unbeaten run to a magnificent seven games in league and cup with this victory at high-flying Cambrian & Clydach, writes Tony Poole.

The 3-0 home league defeat to Afan Lido back in September now seems like an eternity ago as the Bridgend super club just like silk have slipped into a smooth sixth spot in the table.

And they also maintained a superb unbeaten record at Cam with a fourth straight win at the ground in league and cup.

Last winter, Bont triumphed 5-0 in the Nath- aniel Cars Cup and pipped the former league champions 1-0 in the league.

This time around they got off to a dream start, scoring after just three minutes after a Kyron Tolland shot was blocked.

But like pinball it ricocheted back to the Newport County scholar, who hit the back of the net for a ninth time this term.

The game then turned into an untidy midfield scrap, and there was little to write home about until Cam levelled on 43 minutes.

Sammy Jones turned a defender and knocked an unstoppable shot past Rhys Wilson in the Bont goal.

It remained 1-1 as did inconclusive exchanges, until final knockings when just like buses, two goals turned up.

And the goal that gave them back the lead was an absolute gem that Cullen Kinsella triggered and he also fired the winning shot.

His sixth goal of the season placed Bont in the driving seat and Billy Borge then completed the victory march.

His shot took a wicked deflection, deceiving goalkeeper Steven Hall and that was game, set and match Super Club.

And the good news for Borge was that a dubious goals panel – headed by Emlyn Phillips – placed the strike against his name.

Four straight wins have transformed the Bont season, and they are now nearer top than bottom.

Their next league assignment is also away to recent Welsh League champions in Caerau Ely on Saturday week.
