LLANTWIT MAJOR ...... 3 PENRHIWCEIBER RANGERS ...................... 1

PROMOTION-SEEKING Llantwit Major came from a goal behind at half time to down Penrhiwceiber Rangers at Windmill Lane, writes Tony Poole.

The Windmillers weren’t at their best against the Cynon Valley side, who after a quarter of century now face the prospect of losing cherished Welsh League status.

It left Llantwit Major in a handy fourth spot and breathing down the necks of leaders Caerau, Ely Rangers and STM Sports.

But during the opening half it was Rangers who ruled the roost and they went in a goal to nil in front.

The best chance that the Windmillers created during the half stemmed from a whipped Michael Flavell cross.

But for once fox in the box Luke Cox just failed to outfox the Ceiber goalkeeper, who pulled off a crafty save.

However, Llantwit chief Karl Lewis then chose the right words as the Windmillers had the wind in their sails in the second half.

This was more like the Llantwit that has taken Division Three by storm of late - and they levelled in the 50th minute.

Earlier in the week, Darren Robinson – who had a spell with Bridgend super club Penybont – re-signed from Treforest.

And he marked the occasion with a goal, nodding home a sublime Rob Jones free kick to square matters.

Robinson also played a part in the lead goal for the Windmillers that unfolded on the hour.

He found Cox whose sheer pace skinned a defender and Flavell was on hand to complete an exercise straight off the paddock.

And another player who Llantwit Major signed in the run up to the game, Gareth Davies, got the clinching goal.

On-fire Cox pulled off a dainty dink that freed the former Bont star to put the three points to bed.

James Miller also grinded out a decent display, as did Lee Jones and Rob Jones, with Llantwit carding a sixth league win.
