KEV KICKS OFF

- With Kevin Ellis

FIRST of all I would like to wish all Gazette readers a Merry Christmas.

It’s interesting reading about Warren Gatland being linked with his home town club Waikato Chiefs. He admits having talks but he says he’s committed to Wales and the Lions. His contract is up to 2019 and he says he will see it out. We will wait and see!

It was good to have a beer with Rob Howley and the Yardley brothers last week in town. It was good to see how positive everyone was with Howlers and he’s excited about the Six Nations. I fancy England to win it this year but it’s the first game and it’s in Cardiff so anything could happen and if we do win, we will be confident in away games against France, Italy and Scotland. All the Six Nations teams have improved so much and we don’t fear the likes of New Zealand, Australia and the Springboks any more. I’m really excited about this year’s Six Nations. All teams are playing well and it’s wide open. I just think England have got more strength in depth than the other countries. Hope I’m wrong though.

I have got to say congratulations to the Scarlets on a great win over Toulon at Parc y Scarlets. Leigh Halfpenny kicked all Toulon’s points but missed a few long ones at the end to win the game but the Scarlets scored a great try and hung on to win.

It’s not looking good for Swansea City and their manager Bob Bradley after losing 3-0 at Middlesbrough. Fans voiced their opinion and relegation is looking likely unfortunately.

It’s great to see Rhys Webb out of his boot and already looking to start back training. I’m sure we will do some scrum half drills down on the Bridgendford Brewery Field after Christmas and try to get him back up to speed for the Ospreys and Wales. QUESTION: Would you sack Swansea City manager Bob Bradley?

Yes, I would. Unfortunately, the coach or manager always gets the sack but most of the time it’s the players who are at fault and are under performing but that’s the nature of the job.
