Eisteddfod Fundraiser: Twmpath Dawns at the Athletic Club: Cefn Cribwr. Friday, January 27. Raising funds for the Eisteddfod yr Urdd 2017. Performance begins 7pm. Tickets cost £3 and are available on the door.

Choir Concert: Kenfig Hill & District Male Voice Choir plus Special Guests will be performing

to raise funds for the Community Centre at Green Hall, Cefn Cribwr, on Saturday, January 28. Performance begins 7pm.

Y Cefn Gwyrdd Report: Y Cefn Gwyrdd’s Christmas events proved a great success this year. The Christmas Box with its poems, stories and carol was full of the spirit of the season and much enjoyed by all who attended but the highlight must have been the village carol singing.

The Gwyrdd would like to thank the villagers of all ages who turned up to celebrate and entertain to the west of Cefn – some 38 carollers producing an excellent sound and See Amid The Winter’s Snow sung under the Christmas tree will long remain in the memory as will Rudolf The Red-Nosed Reindeer, sung under Malcolm’s Reynolds’ wonderful roof decoration.

The generosity of villagers meant that £206 was collected for MacMillan. The Gwyrdd would also like to thank the Legion [Sports and Social] for their post carolling reception and sausage and chips.

Sixteen walkers and a dog took part in our New Year Walk through Mountain Lane, past the Frog Pond to the Garden Centre Cafe, returning via the Waun to the Tump.. God’s Green Ridge! Trench Foot are an acoustic South Wales folk group, singing about the Great War 1914-18. Please feel free to bring your own refreshments.
