Strictly Cinema – Garw: On Tuesday, January 31, How Green was my Valley will be screened at the Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall. Doors open at 10.30am for an 11am start.

There will be an introducti­on by Andre and also some local memories of cinema times in the valley when Ron Farmer was the projection­ist.

Come along and share memories, not only of your times at the cinemas, but also past times more generally with the organisers, and hopefully a representa­tive from the Garw Valley Heritage Society?

Tickets available on the day at £3 or from 07806 437526. Pontycymer Rugby Club: With the 2017 Six Nations Championsh­ip almost here, all the games will be shown live on the big screen at the club. Everyone welcome to come along and cheer Wales on. The first game Wales will be involved in takes place on Sunday, February 5, when they play an away match against Italy. Tourism Ambassador­s: The Bridgend Tourism Ambassador­s Initative held a meeting on Wednesday evening last with two Garw Valley residents being awarded their Ambassador­ial Certificat­es.

They are Gerald Jarvis and Roz Stirman and they will be helping visitors to experience the very best of Bridgend County with this year’s main topic being centred around local myths and legends. Dance and Drama Workshops: Valley and Vale are running free children’s workshops at the Workmen’s Hall in Blaengarw.

They run from 4pm5pm for the under 11 age group and from 5pm-7pm for the 12-16 age group.

British Legion: Anyone who would like to join the British Legion would be made very welcome, the branch meets at the Blaengarw Rugby Club, upstairs lounge, on the third Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm. Pontycymer RFC: Pontycymer rugby clubs next league fixtures are both at home:
