Vets stretch their lead at the top

-

THE Vetz stretched their lead at the top with an 8-1 victory over visiting Sarn club.

For the Vetz, Lee Haines and Billy Absalom hit 180,s, with Haines also hitting a 106 check out while the shy retiring Ray John sung in a 116 finish for Sarn.

The only point for the visitors was a pairs win for the men with 2 first names Chris and Ray John who sent Alwyn Rees and Nigel Richards to that club. Blaengarw rugby moved into second place after they beat the visiting Pant 6-3 with Clive Carpy hammering in a 16 dart leg.

The Colliers beat the Con 5-4, however the result of the game between Ogmore rug and the Blaen Hotel remains a mystery. the only game we have full details of is the Nanty Inn and Nanty rug.

The Inn took the opening pairs through Andrew Hillman and Anthony Jones, however the rug replied by winning the remaining 2 through John Collins and Roy Nutt then Johnny Clayton and Wade Williams. Andrew Williams then won the first singles, hitting 14 and 18 dart legs, followed by John Collins making it 4-1 to the rug also hitting legs of 15 and 18 darts and a 180, despite his opponent, Anthony “baggy” Jones started 2 legs 180, 140.

Mark Lewis, Andrew and Chris Hillman then made it 4-4, with Chris hitting a 111 finish, which meant a final leg shoot out for the win, and the Rug’s Mr. Cool, Simon Hill made sure his team reached the “magic 5” points for victory and the bragging rights for now in this local derby.
