Penybont hit for six on the road

PENYBONT were hit for six on Sunday by Haverfordw­est County at Bridge Meadow, and suffered a fourth straight Southern Division defeat, writes Tony Poole.

Having lost previous league fixtures to Haverfordw­est County at home, Barry Town Utd away and at Carmarthen Town, the Bridgend super club did manage to score first in a swift rematch with the Bluebirds.

Josh Jones got the goal after a quarter of an hour but by half time, Haverfordw­est led 4-1.

The high-flying Bluebirds winged their way to victory via goals from Rowan Nicholson (two), Alfie Stottor, Danny Raicu, Taku Padiwa and Paul Miller.

On Saturday, Penybont entertaine­d Pontardawe Town at the Kymco Stadium in Nathaniel Cars Welsh League Reserve Division (West).

Bont triumphed 2-1 with a Liam Keefe owngoal and a Connor Goldsworth­y strike setting up the victory.

Penybont Over-50s were in Wales Veterans League action at Cardiff Academical­s, and won the day, 3-2.

Though it was goalless at half time, Pyle & Kenfig golf star Ioan Emanuel, Byron Silva-Rees and Adrian James struck for the Bampy Bonts.

Finally on Sunday, Penybont took on Caerphilly Castle at the Kymco Stadium in the Welsh Women’s League.

Bont won 4-0 with goals from Ashton Morgan, Shona Davies and Sam Jackson along with an own-goal.
