he missed out on three other occasions from decent positions.

It was 1-1 at the turnaround, and after Tommy Fry gave Whitchurch the lead, they were awarded a debatable 55th-minute penalty that Josh Spencer converted.

But Cornelly kept on plugging away, and were rewarded 10 minutes later when Callum Jones got a fifth goal of the season.

At 3-2 it was game on again, but significantly another hotly disputed goal made it game, set and match Whitchurch.

Once more Cornelly felt a goal from Josh Beddis shouldn’t have stood, as captain Michael Wilson was tugged in the build up.

But in a good oldfashioned battle that could have gone either way, Cornelly were unable to improve on a 2-2 home draw with Whitchurch back in September.

However, they had the minor satisfaction of the final word with Lakeside Golf star Sammy Jones netting in dynamic fashion.

The next league outing for Cornelly is a home fixture on Saturday week with Ynyshir Albion. against the run of play Broadlands managed to earn them self a penalty as Penyfai’s defensive rock Tom Mahoney uncharacteristically brought down club Stalwart Kyle Evans whilst through in goal in the seventieth minute. Up stepped stand in skipper Giovanni Bertorelli to convert despite the keeper getting a hand to it. Broadlands managed to then control the latter part of the game and eventually took all three points. Next up for Broadlands is a trip to league leaders Sarn a week Saturday.
