Meanwhile, a Hanner Ffordd competition last week produced a countback victory for Keith Townrow on 37 Stableford points.

His one-under par round contained a birdie on hole nine and two pars and there was even a blob on hole eight.

Club captain Colin Edmunds was the man to miss out when numbers were crunched and a round showing nine pars was garnished with a sizzling two on the fifth green.

Mark Rees got par 36 points for third spot while G Stephens holed out for two on the seventh hole to run up 35 points.

Three members finished on 34 points – John Lord, C E Morris and E F J Miller.

Meanwhile, Colin Edmunds is bringing the curtain down on his captaincy year in staging a gala function in aid of Cystic Fibrosis Wales.

The evening entertainment on March 3 is from top comedian Jimmy Quinn, and it’s accompanied by a two-course meal at a cost per head of £30.

And for those who wish to work up an appetite, a round of golf is also on offer with a green fee of just £5.

It’s taking a Texas Scramble format with tee times from 11am through to 1.30pm.

Tickets for the charity fundraiser are available at the clubhouse bar.
