A MORE encouraging Bridgend display led to them only suffering a narrow Premier Two defeat against high-flying Presteigne.

The bottom-placed Ravens gave it their best shot against a side beaten just twice this season, resulting in them holding second position in the table.

This Saturday, Bridgend have another league fixture, away to Howardian Seconds.

In Division Three, Bridgend Seconds slid to a 10-0 defeat against Swansea University Seconds at Pencoed Comprehensive School.

In what proved a harsh lesson for Emily Phillips and her latest brood of Raven chicks, they turned around eight goals down against opponents second in the league table.

Swansea took no prisoners, during a half they dominated from start to finish, but Bridgend then played a get out jail card during the second period.

Top Gunner Emily Phillips played musical chairs during the break, and clutched a decent prize through Swansea only adding two more goals.

Bridgend even managed to carve out a few goal-scoring opportunities and Saturday’s opponents, Cwmtawe, are unlikely to be such clinical finishers.

Cwmtawe, who have received a deduction of points, are currently one slot below ninth-placed Bridgend.
