LLANRUMNEY UTD ..... 1 GARW ............................. 7

MAGNIFICENT is the best way to describe onfire Garw putting seven goals past Llanrumney United at The Riverside to reach the quarter-finals, writes Tony Poole.

In an all-conquering start to their Highadmit South Wales Alliance campaign – amounting to a sweet 16 league wins and a further two in the cup – these are buoyant Blandy days.

But during this cup success, Ryan Blanche’s crack troops fired plenty of blanks during the early stages of this shootout.

Once backfiring was remedied, normal service was resumed.

Nevertheless, they paid a dear price for failing to put the Stags down, and were relieved when former Penybont star Harry Davies gave them the lead.

But the Stags then hunted them down – getting a shock equaliser in the process - before Garw began to charge like bulls.

Lewis James nudged them back in front, but Garw speed merchant Rhys Thomas and a home defender then got a red rag for taking the bull by the horns during a bout of handbags.

With both sides down to 10 men, and Garw only a goal to the good, the second period proved a completely different kettle of fish.

The Blandy boys sped through the gears, and it was soon a case of oneway traffic towards the home goal.

Harry Davies again figured prominently and in an eye-catching display he carved out a second half hat-trick, making it four goals during another tip-top display.

The other goals for the buoyant Blandy boys came from Lewis Davies and Jason James.

Though not on the scoresheet, blossoming Nathan Rose nipped a home revival in the bud while former Penybont star Kristian Evans displayed super club class.

Garw resume league duties on Saturday with a mouth-watering derby against third-placed Cefn Cribwr at Cae Gof.
