Pontycymer RFC: With the Six Nations Championsh­ip here it means a mini spring break for Pontycymer Rugby Club, who are next in action on Saturday, February 18, when they welcome Pyle Rugby Club to Lawrence Park. Kick off is at 2.30pm.

Pontycymer Rugby Club: Six Nations on the big screens – next on Saturday, February 25, when Wales play Scotland at Murrayfiel­d, kick-off 2.25pm.

Dance and Drama Workshops: Valley and Vale are run free children’s workshops at the Workmen’s Hall in Blaengarw, from 4pm5pm for the under 11 age group and from 5pm-7pm for the 12-16 age group.

● British Legion: The branch meets at the Blaengarw Rugby Club, upstairs lounge, on the third Tuesday of every month at 7.30pm. ● Garw Valley Heritage Society: The Heritage Society are looking to hold an archive of Works War II memorabili­a and would welcome any donations or input from valley residents. ● Strictly Cinema Club: On Tuesday, Februrary 28, its Bridget Jones’ Baby at Blaengarw Workmen’s Hall at 11am. Entry is £3 and tea and coffee will again be available. Call Andre on 07806 437526 (10am-4pm Mon-Fri).

● PACT Meeting: The next meeting for Pontycymer and Blaengarw will be on Monday, February 27, at the Blaengarw Rugby Club, Victoria Street, 6pm. ● Return of Valley Derby: On April 22, the big derby game between Pontycymer RFC Vetrans v Blaengarw RFC Veterans will take place.

It will take place at Lawrence Park, Pontycymer and kick off will be at 2.30pm.

There will refreshmen­t stalls available on the day, and after the match there will be a Grand Raffle and Auction at the clubhouse.

It is hoped the Valley Ravens mini rugby team will be playing a curtain raiser before the main event.

All money raised will go to Cancer UK and to the Prostate Cancer charities.
