Howard’s first goal earns Penybont a vital point

tumn when Lido triumphed 3-0 at the Kymco Stadium.

But during early knockings at Aberavon Beach in the rematch, the Bridgend super club worked hard their former goalkeeper Christopher Curtis.

Josef Hopkins, Cullen Kinsella and Marcus Griffiths missed chances that on another day might have gone in.

But they did get the lead in the 38th minute when the ball pinged around the box in the best traditions of pinball.

A couple of beefy Kane Owen shots were blocked, and it was left to Howard to divert the ball past Curtis.

Bont led 1-0 at half time and on the restart both sides went at it hammer and tongs.

Goals came under threat and eventually the Seasiders carved out a 70th-minute equaliser.

Substitute Carlos Indjai and Shane Williams combined and Sacha Walters played in Elliot Thomas.

Though Thomas scuffed his shot, it trickled over the goal line – and at the end of the day it was worth a share of the spoils.

However, Lido nearly won it only for Bont goalkeeper Rhys Wilson to pull out all the stops to deny Shane Williams.

Bont return to Aberavon Beach tonight (Wednesday) to face Afan Lido in the South Wales FA Senior Cup semi-finals.

And on Saturday, Penybont resume league duties against Cwmbran Celtic at the Kymco Stadium.
