Butchers Open: Tudor and Heidi Morris, butchers at 38 Dunraven Place, would like to inform people that they are not closing down. Work is being carried out to the front of their shop.

Coastal Path Walk: Members and Friends of Soroptimis­t Internatio­nal, Bridgend, are planning to walk along the Coastal Path on Porthcawl on Saturday March 11, starting at 10am, to celebrate Internatio­nal Women’s Day.

St John’s House Concert: The Annual Concert for St John’s House (Hospice) Newcastle Hill will take place in the Catholic Church, Ewenny Road.

The Friends of the House have organised the concert for Friday, March 17 at 7pm.

Bridgend Male Choir along with ladies choir Vocelle and the children’s choir from Oldcastle School will perform. Entry is £6.

Bridgend Townwomen’s Guild: The guild meet on the second Wednesday of each month in Hope Baptist Church Institute, Derwen road at 2pm.

Lent Lunches: The Lent Lunches will return to Nolton Church Hall on Friday, March 3, from 10am-1pm. The lunches will then continue for six weeks.

Christmas Tree Festival: The total profit raised from the Christmas Tree Festival at Nolton was £2,900 – a brilliant effort. It is hoped to present a cheque to Welsh Hearts at a celebratio­n to take place at 3pm on Sunday, March 12, at Archdeacon John Lewis School, Brackla.

Parish News: The Parish of Coity, Nolton and Brackla have announced the new Assistant Curate will be Mark Broadway, currently in his final year of study at St Michael’s. Mark is married to Bianca, and they have two young boys.

Hospital Service: The next Hospital Christian Fellowship Service takes place on Friday, March 10. The service will as always take place in the Hospital Chapel, Princess of Wales Hospital, Coity Road at 3pm. Penny Williams from Penyfai will lead the service. All are very welcome.

Big Breakfast: The total profit raised by the recent Big Breakfast held at Nolton Church was around £425. Many thanks to the organisers and all who supported.

The Ladies Guild: Thursdays there is a Baby and Toddler Group at 9.30am held in the School Room, Station Hill. Sunday’s Cool (Sunday school) is held at 10am and services are held, morning service at 10.30am and evening at 6pm.

Entertainm­ent: An Evening of Entertainm­ent and Enjoyment will take place at Heron Hall, Heronsbrid­ge School, Ewenny Road, with choir and pupils from Heronsbrid­ge School and Llangewydd Junior School. The compere will be Rev Canon Michael Komor, Rector of Coity, Nolton and Brackla and area Dean. The event takes place on Wednesday, March 1 at 6.30pm. Tickets cost £3 for adults. Children go free.

Bridgend Male Choir: Following on from confirmati­on that Bridgend Male Choir will be performing at this year Welsh Proms in July, and at the world famous Gothic Catholic Cathedral of Santa Maria of Palma in October, the Choir will now also be performing at Harrow School’s Speech Hall on June 17.

The Hall which was built in 1871, and replicates the Globe Theatre will provide a dramatic backdrop to a unique evening of exciting Welsh musical entertainm­ent with Bridgend Male Choir and Lewis-Merthyr Band under the baton of conductor Owain Arwel Hughes CBE.

During March the choir will be supporting local charities on St David’s Day at Bryntirion Comprehens­ive School, in support of the Urdd Gobaith Cymru, and on March 17 with Vocelle Ladies’ Choir and Oldcastle School Choir at St Mary’s RC Church, Ewenny Road, in support of St John’s House Trust (former Hospice), Newcastle Hill.

New members are welcome to rehearsals on Thursdays from 7.30pm-9.30pm at Oldcastle School South Street.

Social Afternoon: Carol and Paul, Steward and stewardess of the Railway Club on Coity Road have started a Social Afternoon every Tuesday, from 1pm-4pm. Food, bingo, raffle and music for just £2

Bridge MPS / The Zone: The Bridge MPS would like to thank the people of Bridgend who have been so generous in their support of The Zone Family Centre situated 4648 Dunraven Place.

The centre is open from 10am-12noon on Wednesdays for people to receive food items at on charge.

A cooking course programme entitled Eatwell is held on Tuesdays from 11am-1pm; Knit and Natter group meet from 10am-12 noon; and Arts and Crafts for toddlers meet from 1pm-3pm.

The Cuppa and a Chat group meet Fridays, from 10am-12noon.

Also on Friday mornings Men’s Mental Health group meet from 10am-12noon. All are very welcome.

Book Fair: The next Lions Club of Bridgend Annual Charity Book Fair will take place on Friday, Saturday and Sunday April 7, 8 and 9 at Westward Community Centre Cefn Glas.

Books can be handed in at the new collection centres at Westward Community Centre, Cefn Glas, on Sundays from 10.30am-11.30am and at Aberkenfig Welfare Hall, Hope Avenue, Aberkenfig, weekdays from 10.30am.

Church Concert: Hope Baptist Church is honoured to welcome Soyeon Sophia Lee, a renowned classical pianist. As part of her present Mission for Christ tour, Sophia will be performing at Hope Baptist Church, Station Hill, Bridgend on Sunday, March 5, at 6pm. All are welcome.

Photograph­y Exhibition: Local butcher Tim Wood is presenting an exhibition, entitled Landscapes, Wood to Coast at the Grand Pavilion Porthcawl. The launch will be on Tuesday, March 21 at 7pm. The exhibition runs until May 21 and entry is free.

What’s On at your Library: At Carnegie House (former Library) Wyndham Street:

Wildflower, Herbs and Aromathera­py lessons – Classes started on February 1, from 10am-11am and run for six weeks. The cost will be £5 per class (including all materials and making of item to take home).
