Givenchy model has style

- PETER HAYWARD newsdesk@walesonline.co.uk

THE car makers looking to fill the need for people downsizing who don’t want to lose any of the little luxuries they are used to are bringing out some very plush small cars.

One of the latest is the DS 3 Givenchy Le Makeup – a name that might have some extra clout in France but which may be just too wordy for the UK.

Regardless of the moniker, the limited edition Givenchy model builds on the DS 3 strengths of performance and handling to bring real luxury and style.

There are special finishes inside and out not found in any other DS 3, including textured matt white paint with a purple roof and door mirrors.

The DS 3 Givenchy Le Makeup gets diamond cut alloys, xenon headlights, beautiful black leather upholstery, satnav with MirrorLink internet connection and Apple CarPlay music streaming.

It even comes with a Givenchy make-up kit for the ladies and a similarly badged shopping bag.

This car was powered by Citroen’s excellent free revving 1.2 three-cylinder petrol turbo, which means there is always power under the right foot for swift acceleration.

Taut suspension gives excellent and very safe road holding and handling, with neutral balance and positive steering. But the suspension settings do give an unsettled ride on poorer surfaces, both in town and at higher speeds.

The whole car feels very positive and surefooted out on the road and height and reach adjustable steering, plus height adjustment for the driver’s seat mean that all sizes of driver can get comfortable.

There’s not much rear legroom, so if the driver is tall, it will only carry three and the boot is a decent size.

Other standard kit includes stop-start, automatic lights and wipers and a good sounding stereo with column controls.

The DS 3 Givenchy Le Makeup we drove costs £19,695.
