OGMORE VALE & DISTRICT DARTS LEAGUE

-

WHILE league leaders the Vetz sat out a bye, second placed Blaengarw Rugby moved to within two points of the top with a 7-2 victory over visiting Con.

They took all three pairs through Peter Jones with Steve Dent, Phil Rice and Will Struthers also Paul Williams and Kaloue Jenkins.

Then Jones, Dent, Williams and Rice won their singles to put them 7-0 up.

However, once again it was Con stalwart Dai Davies who stopped the rot followed by young Brian Parry who saved the Con’s blushes by taking the last two games.

The real big news this week is Nev the secretary received a result card off the Inn, who beat the visiting Blaen Hotel 8-1 with pairs wins for “Legend” Nigel Blowing and “Baggy” Jones, Mark Lewis with John Hillman also Andrew and Chris Hillman.

Then there were singles wins for Brian Owen, Andrew and Chris Hillman, who hit a 16-dart leg, Lewis and Baggy.

The only success for the Blaen was Dan Gillett, who checked out on 123 in his victory over the man in the club, John Hillman, who despite losing hit a 180.

At Ogmore Rugby, Nantymoel Rugby came away with a 6-3 win over fiveman Pant.

They won two pairs courtesy of the two “Bowler hats”, Johnny Clayton and his apprentice Wade Williams, also Anthony Hopkins and Steve Humphries with Dai Frowen and Stu Angove replying for the Pant.

In the singles, Frowen and Clive Carpy won the opening two games, however, Simon Hill, Roy Nutt, Humphries and Clayton, who hit a 180, made sure the Nanty boys had a good trip home.

Third-placed Social gained a 6-3 win at the Colliers and Sarn beat Ogmore Rugby 6-3 with Sarn’s Andrew Short hitting a maximum.

Next week it’s the Welsh Brewers Sixes at the Social where all the teams will be targeting the Vetz, who won the tournament last year.
