KEV KICKS OFF

- With Kevin Ellis

I HAVE got to say how gutted I was to see Wales lose to a much improved Scotland team. It was a game of two halves. Wales played some great rugby with the outstanding Rhys Webb full of sniping runs and quick tap penalties leading to a great try for Liam Williams. Webby has got to be a cert now for the Lions. He’s in great form and let’s hope he keeps it going. The second half was not great to watch. We didn’t score any points and the Scots were outstanding and scored two great tries and deserved the win. I was in Edinburgh and I have got to say there was a great atmosphere up there with so many Welsh fans. I caught up with Rob Howley, Webby and a few of the boys. They were all devastated but gave credit to the Scots and admitted Wales were not good enough on the day.

It’s great to see Gavin Henson back on form for Bristol, kicking all the points in their home win over Bath. A lot of people are calling for him to be put back in the Welsh team but at 35, I doubt he will get a call. I think and hope Howley and co will look for up-and-coming youngsters now we can’t win the Six Nations. Do let’s try a few youngsters!

It was great to see Italy leading England at Twickenham 10-5 at half-time but we all knew however bad England played, they were always going to come back and win which they did. We could all see Eddie Jones was not a happy man and even James Haskell was asking the referee the rules of the game and asked what to do which was funny.

Congratulations to the Ravens on beating Llanelli last week. It was a fantastic win down on Parc y Scarlets. QUESTION: Do you think Rob Howley will keep his job as Wales coach?

Yes I do. He’s got a contract until 2019 and I’m sure he will honour it. I know he’s under pressure. That goes with taking the head coach role and when we have a few losses, everybody gets on the bandwagon to sack the coach. I think the players need to have a good look at themselves and start getting some hunger into them.
